The Long Beach Technical Center has its heritage in the long established Kuster company, which has been serving the Oil & Gas Industry since 1928. From the early days of drilling and surveying wells at Signal Hill, California, Kuster has evolved to provide reliable and sophisticated pressure and temperature measurements to suit a wide variety of operating conditions. From the mechanical gauges for single shot-surveys, to sophisticated memory-based bottom hole pressure (P) and temperature (T) gauges used to assess reservoir production potential, Kuster has continuously pushed technical boundaries to meet the ongoing demands of the marketplace. Recently, Kuster has pushed the performance envelope of gauges to an extreme level with the commercialization of gauges capable of operating in downhole conditions of up to 200C and 25,000 psi, for up to 1000 hours. Over the last 15 years, Kuster’s expertise in high temperature electronics and gauges has proved to be a natural fit with the emerging geothermal industry. With an established reputation for solid, reliable gauges in the oil and gas industry, the organization is justifiably proud of its achievements in the geothermal market and continues to develop products and systems for this exciting energy area. Over the last 3 years, the organization has also applied its core gauge technology to the permanent gauge market. No other independent manufacturer has the proven gauge reliability that Kuster has, and with industry leading technology applied to the entire gauge system, the reliability of Kuster products protected and secure, even in this demanding and complex area. The organization joined Probe in October 2009 driven by a strategic fit of products and geographic markets, synergies in engineering and manufacturing, and a common belief in the vision for the combined organizations.
