Bore Hole Compensated Sonic Tool
The Bore Hole Compensated (BHC) Sonic Tool uses two acoustic transmitters and two acoustic receivers arranged in an oil filled stainless steel slotted sleeve mandrel to provide transmitter to receiver spacing. The tools’ design provides dual 3 ft. and 5 ft. transmitter-receiver signals to the surface to compensate for unequal mudtravel times caused by de-centralization of the tool in the well bore, and for borehole irregularities. The resultant calculated travel times are compensated to yield a true Δt. The tool utilizes logarithmic amplifiers to obtain first arrival signals in even the worst of borehole conditions. From the compensated calculated Δt, a true acoustic derived porosity of the formation lithology is calculated. Related Products
