3 1/2" Micro Electric Log Tool

The Micro Electric Log (MEL) Tool measures the resistivities of small volumes of formation near the wall of the wellbore. Three electrodes are spaced on a hydraulic pad mounted on a spring-loaded arm, which is tightly pressed against the side of the borehole.

The tool uses 2 distinct resistivity measurements, a 2" micro-mornal and a 1 1/2-inch micro-inverse measurement, enabling two depths of resistivity investigation. Combined with an integral calliper, mudcake and fluid invasion can be readily determined.

Data is transmitted to surface in either analogue or Probe PTX digital format.
