The Dual Induction Laterolog (DIL) Tool provides and accurate profile of borehole invasion and formation resistivity. The tool provides measurements at three depths of investigation, a deep and medium induction curve and a shallow laterolog resistivity curve. The DIL tool is recommended for conductivity values of up to 5000 mmho/meter and where the resistivity of the mud filtrate is greater than the resistivity of the formation water. The shallow laterolog measurement uses a guarded electrode type resistivity measurement operating at a lower frequency to provide a good and shallow resistivity measurement.
