Description

The TCU is the communications control centre for the logging system. It provides reliable bi-directional communications on standard service mono-conductor electric wirelines of up to 9,100m (30,000ft). The tool controls the collection of data from the tools below and packages it for transmission to the surface system. It receives commands from the surface system via the fast downlink and provides responses back to the surface as required. The TCU also houses the main downhole power supply providing power to the logging tools and provides the operator with real time top of tool voltage and internal temperature.

 Features

  • Automatic tool ID & tool polling loop generation
  • Fast inter-tool bus, with all messages CRC protected
  • Uplink data rate 150 kbit/sec
  • Supports all tools operating on the Hunter Tool Data Bus (RAS Pulsed Neutron, Spectral GR, PL Sensors, Array PL, RADII, iQ, MAC etc)
  • Head voltage and internal temperature measurement
  • Fast wireline downlink (16Kbps) allows real time control of toolstring
  • Plug in electronics are used throughout enabling local upgrade and repair
